How Dr. Marsh approaches it
Liposuction removes fat; it does not tighten skin or treat weight. The best candidates are at or near a stable weight with specific areas that resist diet and exercise. Dr. Marsh uses power-assisted liposuction with careful attention to contour and symmetry, treating the body as a whole rather than one area in isolation. Skin quality is assessed honestly; where skin is loose, a lift is the right answer and will be recommended instead.
Usually a good candidate
- Stubborn areas despite a stable weight
- Flanks, inner and outer thighs, abdomen, arms, neck
- Contouring alongside a tummy tuck or breast surgery
- Fat harvest for transfer
What we will discuss honestly
- It is not a weight-loss procedure
- Loose skin will not improve and may look looser
- Contour irregularities are possible and are minimised with technique
- Compression garments are worn for 4 to 6 weeks
- Every operation carries risks of bleeding, infection, scarring, anesthesia complications, and the need for revision. They are specific to you and are reviewed in writing before you consent.
How long it lasts
Lasting, subject to weight. Ageing continues; the operation resets the clock rather than stopping it. Weight stability, sun protection, and not smoking are the three things that most protect a result.
The path
- Consultation. Ninety minutes with Dr. Marsh. Measurements, photographs, simulation where relevant, and a written plan with the complete fee. $250, credited toward surgery.
- Pre-operative visit. Two weeks before: labs, medical clearance where needed, consent, prescriptions, and the plan reviewed once more.
- Surgery. In an accredited surgery center with a board-certified anesthesiologist. Home the same day.
- Follow-up. Day one or two, one week, two weeks, six weeks, three months, six months, and a year. All included.
Fictional procedure description on a website concept. Not medical advice. Results vary, and a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon is required.
